Power Rangers: A short memoir of my childhood

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers —*hums theme song.* In the afternoons, I twist the knob on the run-down TV, with an antenna that snapped and bent like a refrigerator door to channel 5, at 4:30pm —I can't recall exactly —at a day-care, in Bedford Stuyvesant. I couldn't get enough of the theme song. I sang it, fanatically, convinced a Power Ranger I was. I did learn I'd never make it as a singer then.

Impending Doom: Lao Airlines Passenger Flight 301

Lao Airlines Passenger Flight 301 belched downward —a fatal blow dealt by Mother Nature herself. The passenger flight spread its wings on the night of October 16 and took flight. The plane then made an attempt to land but was unfit to land, then it made another attempt when it crashed into Mekong river.

Weekend Grooves - J.Cole: Hells Kitchen



A man named J Cole dropped this gem of a track. I can't say I was a Cole fan a few years ago, back when he debuted his first album. I felt he was a pop artist, which he admitted to being. All that hoopla aside. What matters today— right now is that this track titled "Hells Kitchen" explains better than I the foibles in the music industry. Which plays like a self-help track.

The Notorious B.I.G: Gritty rhymes, gritty business

A life was plucked away from the trees in the garden of Hip Hop. At the young hours of March 9th, four shots lick off on an occupied car. The car windows explode. Caving into flesh, were bullets. The victim: 24 year old Christopher Wallace.
